Chapters in Stison Follow
Chapter information can be added to Stison with two aims:
- Adding chapter information from within a book (part of a product)
- Adding a chapter as an individually sold product (product)
Below, you will find guidance for both use cases.
Adding Chapters to Books
After adding a Title to Stison, you may wish to add its chapter information from within the Chapters Tab. For further information on how to do this, visit The Chapters Tab documentation.
From within this tab, Stison has the functionality for more specific chapter data to be added, e.g. its DOI, an abstract, citation, etc. If the chapter is part of a book written by multiple contributors, you can also add the author of this specific chapter here.
Once you create the chapter, its details can be seen by clicking the blue "down" arrow. You will also be able to create an AI for just this chapter from this page.
Chapters as Individually Sold Products
If the book you're adding includes chapters that can be sold as individual products (e.g. a chapter that was previously published as an academic article), how you create the chapter may differ from the above guidance.
To ensure the chapter maintains a thorough identity both in and outside of the book in which its included, it is necessary to create the chapter on its own, rather than just as an entry from within the Chapters Tab. The below information will show you how to do so.
Creating a Chapter
From within Title Manager's Books tab, click "create new." Here, you will see the same page as you do when creating a book. Fill in the data relevant to your chapter and change the content type to "Chapter."
Note: You have most likely already added the title to which this chapter belongs. You can link it to that already created title through the "Work" Field.
Once you've created your chapter, you will have access to all the tabs you would when working with a book. This means for just this chapter, you can add specified ISBNs and DOIs, blurbs, pricing information, etc.
From within the Related Tab, it is also recommended that you relate the chapter to its book to ensure they are linked in ONIX files. For more information on how to add related data, visit The Related Tab Documentation.
