Setting up and linking subsequent editions Follow
When setting up titles that are later editions of a title that is already within the Stison system, Stison enables you to both copy over existing data from the original title, and link these editions together.
The following page details an example of how to link a second edition to a first edition.
- Firstly, create a new title (this will be your second edition). Select the Create New button that can be found on the top left-hand side of the screen underneath the Search Box.
The following screen will then appear on your computer. As you can see, there is a ‘Copy Existing Title?’ field, with a magnifying glass with a + within it. If you select this magnifying glass, it will allow you to select an existing title from which you would like to copy information. In this case, that is the first edition.
- Once linked, you will see that within a number of tabs, information has copied over from the existing title.
- You can then go about populating this title with Edition specific information. Further detail on how to set up a title in Title Manager can be found here.
- Once the Second Edition has been set up, you can then link it to the First Edition via the ‘Related’ tab. This step is crucial for SEO purposes and the discoverability of your titles.
Select whether you want this relation to be included in your AI and your Onix feeds, then select the type of relation (in this case, ‘Is later edition of first edition’), and finally, select the title that is the first edition.
Creating a ‘Work’
If you have books that originate from the same content but differ, in this case subsequent editions of the same book, whilst you cannot merge them within the Book List, the Works function within Stison allows you to bring all related editions to a single area on the system for life-time reporting.
Further details on how to set up a Work and link titles to it can be found here.
