Stison Terms Glossary Follow
Whilst much of the terminology used within Stison is industry wide terminology, there are inevitably certain labels that are specific to Stison. We've therefore drawn together a glossary of these terms, to help you to navigate the system with confidence.
If a term is currently missing from this article, please email helpdesk@stison.com to let us know.
Title Manager
AIs: refers to Advanced Information Sheets. This is a marketing document that can be generated from Title Manager to provide key information about a book to your industry partners. Metadata stored within Title Management will be pulled into your AIs, and we have a variety of templates for you to choose from.
Asset Section: a way of classifying and grouping the types of assets that you may be storing and sending from Stison. You can create your own asset sections within Asset Management, and these can then be used to categorise the assets that you have uploaded to the Media Tab.
Book List: these are custom sets of titles that you can make. You may want to do this in order to generate a bundle of AIs, create data spreadsheets, etc. You can read more about how to make a Book List here.
Classifications: Stison provides the ability for you to set up a proprietary categorisation method for your titles with the Classifications feature. More about how to set up Classifications on your system can be found here.
Price Profile: a feature that allows you to manage a set of prices across a number of products within your title management module. You can find out more about how to configure your price profiles and add them to the Price Tab here.
Publication Season: internal classifications that can be configured within Stison to help you group titles by season.
Record Reference: a unique product identifier that will be generated by the system itself if you do not add one. This number refers to the information about your product rather than the product itself, and never changes.
Stock Code: an internal identifier that can be used for your products where necessary. This value sits on the ISBN tab and is searchable in Title Manager.
Tags: another set of categorisation used internally, and will enable further search functionality through filters in Title Manager and the contacts database. More information can be found here.
Work: a way of grouping products that all originate from the same content (such as multiple editions deriving from the same intellectual property). Stison's Title Manager module can generate life-time sales reports of all products that belong to one Work.
Editorial and Production Manager
Output: refers to the move of a project from Editorial to Production and/or Title Manager.
Schedule: a list of tasks or costs that can be applied to your Editorial and Production projects for ease of tracking and task management.
Statuses: configurable within both modules to provide a quick, at-a-glance update regarding the status of your projects, such as: contracted or Sent to Printer. The information is also integrated within various production reports.
Workflows: a tool within the Editorial module that enables you to determine which features of the Editorial module are available for a project, depending on its status. It also allows you to set permissions for your editorial projects, limiting what statuses are available and who in your organisation can change an editorial status.
Royalties Manager
Adjustment: a way of recording an overpayment/underpayment so that future royalty statements can be amended.
Pay Run: refers to a scheduled process of generating royalty statements that cover sales and payments over a particular period of time. For example, your 2025 pay run.
Royalties Config.: this refers to how often you want to run your statements, ie. quarterly, annually, etc. If you have a half yearly and a yearly pay run, you will need a Royalties config. for each.
Sales Type: the types of sales that your organisation makes, which will relate directly to the royalty schedule in your contracts. Note that sales types are independent to the product form; the relationship between the two occurs at work/title level.
