Configuring a Payee Follow
Stison's Royalties module bases the contract rules against the author of a book, however it is entirely possible that the person (or organisation) being paid may be different. Some examples may include:
1. An author has died and the royalties are paid to one or more descendants
2. An agent requires payment alongside an author
The system will cope with this clearly and simply. To setup or change a payee, you should navigate to Sales / Royalties and then choose the Royalties option. From there, you will need to select the book you wish to work on.
If the you want to change an existing Payee then follow the steps in, Changing a Payee page.
Clicking on the book will bring up the initial royalties screen (with all other tabs behind it).
You should then select the Payee Tab. You will see the following:
By default, the contributor will be set to get paid 100% of the royalties calculated. Clicking on the name of the payee allows you to change this. You can set the payees to any configuration you like. To change or add an additional payee, you will need to change the default payee. Click on the payee name and you will get the following window:
From there, you should change the split to be anywhere between 0.1% and 100% and then click Update. [NB if you want to remove the payee altogether, then select the check box to the left of the name and click on the Remove Selected button].
You can then add a new Payee by clicking on Create New. This will open a new window, as shown below:
Payee*: Click into the blank field and a list of all of your contacts will come up. For a payee to be in this list, he/she must already be a Contact within the Stison system, and should have the royalties checkbox ticked. If you would like to allocate a minimum payment, you can find instructions to do so here.
Contributor*: Click into the blank field and all contributors associated with the title will come up. Click on the relevant name.
Split*: This is where you determine the percentage split of the royalties.
Below, you can see a few examples showing how the information will look once it's all in place and you've clicked Create.
You are now ready to move to the Sales and Returns tab.
