The Previous Data Tab Follow
When moving your royalties to Stison, you may be coming from an existing system. If this is the case, then you will want to use this tab where you can add the state of each title prior to your royalties being taken over by Stison. This is vital if there are escalators in the contract terms.
Fill in the blank fields accordingly:
- Balance Date: This is the date at which you want the data to be inserted. This should be well before the start date of your royalties. Use a consistent date on all titles to make it easier for Stison to find the data if there are issues.
- Previous Royalties: Use this area to record any un-earned advances and any royalties earned if you want it reported on. Generally, we are only interested in un-earned advances or balance due so that we can create a negative or positive start balance. Royalties earned is more for reporting, so you can show a value sold against a royalties paid over old data.
-
Previous Sales: Record any previous sales in this area. Break the sales data down by sales type. This is only relevant if your title has escalation or you want the reports to show lifetime unit sales.
Sales Type: The type of sale we are adding an initial sale position for.
Units, Net Value & Gross Value: Number of units sold, net value of the units sold & gross value of the units sold respectively.
Percentage: This is required if you have percentage breaks. You may need multiple rows of the same sales type to affect different percentage breaks. eg: one line for home sales 30% break, one line for home sales 55% break. The percentage only puts the units & value in the correct break, it is not used for any calculations, so can be an approximation to ensure the figures get allocated to the correct break.
Escalated Units: This is only required where unit breaks are used for escalation, and there have been units sold of a product that does not exist in the system. For example, if you are entering the details for a second edition, but you do not have the first edition in the system, and the sales of the first edition affect the escalation in the royalties of the second edition, you will need to enter the units sold for the first edition here. - As always, click on add another to add more rows to each area.
Click Update button when you are finished in order to save your changes.
It is possible to upload your previous data in bulk.
