Sales Summary Report

The Sales Summary Report allows you to analyse sales data across any date range, with the ability to select which columns are displayed and filter results by title, contributor, or your full catalogue. Results can be exported to Excel for further analysis.

All figures are shown in your system's base currency.

Note: If you currently have a Book List active, this will filter the Sales Summary to those titles only. Clear your Book List first if you want to report across your full catalogue.

Getting started

From the left-hand main menu, navigate to the Sales and Royalties module and then to the Royalty Reports / Sales Summary menu item.

Choosing your scope

You can run the report across a single title, a single contributor, or your entire catalogue. Use the Title or Contributor search fields at the top of the screen to filter to a specific record, or leave both blank to report across your full catalogue.

Date range

A date range is required before the report can be run. By default, this is pre-set to the last 12 months but can be adjusted as needed.

Sales filter

Use the Sales radio buttons to filter the report by sales type:

• Normal — standard sales transactions
• Rights — rights sales only
• All — all sales regardless of type (selected by default)

Customising your columns

Use the checkboxes under View to select which columns appear in your report. Some checkboxes expand to reveal additional sub-level options when selected.

Checkbox	What it shows	Sub-level options
Retailer	The retailer that made the sale	Acc #, Agent, Country, Customer Type
Sales Type	The type of sale
Title	The title of the product	Contributor
Form	The product format. Shows sales by quantity and amount. Enable the Prod. Form sub-option to break results down by named format (e.g. paperback, hardback, ePub).	ISBN, Stock Code, Prod. Form, Pub. Date, Default Price, Disc. Code
Discount	A breakdown of sales by the discount applied against RRP
Copies	The number of units sold
Amount	The sales value
Gross	The sale value at full RRP, without any discount applied
Aggregate	Sums sales, returns, and adjustments into a single net copies and value figure. When selected, Copies and Amount do not need to be selected separately.

Retailer — sub-level options

When the Retailer checkbox is selected, the following additional options become available:

Option	Detail
Acc #	The retailer's account number within Stison
Agent	A breakdown of sales by sales agent, where recorded. Blank if not recorded on the sales line.
Country	The country associated with the retailer
Customer Type	The classification of the retailer (e.g. wholesaler, direct customer). May not be recorded on the sales line.

Title — sub-level options

When the Title checkbox is selected, the following additional option becomes available:

Option	Detail
Contributor	Adds the contributor name(s) associated with each title as an additional column in the report.

Form — sub-level options

When the Form checkbox is selected, the following additional options become available:

Option	Detail
ISBN	The ISBN of the specific format
Stock Code	The internal stock code assigned to the format
Prod. Form	Breaks results down by named product format (e.g. paperback, hardback, ePub, audio). Without this option, Form shows only total quantity and amount.
Pub. Date	The publication date of the specific format
Default Price	The default listed price for the format
Disc. Code	The discount code applied to the format

Advanced filters

Click the Advanced Filters button to open the filter selection panel. The following filters are available:

Publication Date	Filter by a publication date range, using From and To date fields
Retailer	Filter by a specific retailer
Distributor	Filter by a specific distributor
Currency	Filter by the currency of the sales transactions
Sales Type	Filter by the type of sale
Sale / Return	Filter by sales, returns, or adjustments separately
Product Form	Filter by product format (e.g. paperback, hardback, ePub)
Digital Form	Filter by digital format type
Publication Season	Filter by publication season
Subject	Filter by subject classification
Theme	Filter by a custom theme as set up by your organisation
Thema	Filter by Thema subject classification code
Amazon	Filter by Amazon channel or identifier
Series	Filter by series
Imprint	Filter by publisher imprint
Country	Filter by country

Exporting results

Using the Download button in the top right-hand corner of the screen, you can download this sales information to Excel for further analysis.

Tips and Tricks

If the report that you have run does not generate on screen, it may be because the system has sent a link to the final report to you by email. Check your inbox for a link to access the completed report.
