Payment Schedules and Influencers Follow
In the Options tab, you will configure which payment schedule the product form adheres to, and if its sales can influence the unit sales of other titles or royalty schedules. This also provides the opportunity to remove a title from the royalty statements.
Within this tab, there are 4 sub-tabs: Configuration, Influence Alternate Break, Influence Alternate Book, and Influenced By Alternate Book:
1. In the Configuration sub-tab, check the In Statements box if you wish the title to be included in your royalty statements. Conversely, if you would like the title to be removed from the statements, un-tick this box. For instance, this may be used if a title is out of print & you are expecting no more royalties' data.
Check the correct Contributor Split box.
In this section, you can also see the Royalties Configuration you previously set up; in the example above we have Annual and Half Yearly. Check the correct box depending on how often you want to run your statements and make payments.
When you are finished, click the Update button.
2. The Influence Alternate Break tab is the place where you can decide if you want units sold from one break to influence another break, e.g. local sales to export sales to be combined in order to trigger the royalty schedule. In other words - if the export sales and the local sales total the first escalator, then the royalties will be calculated accordingly. Here is an example of what we mean, where home sales escalate to export sales in a royalty period and vice versa:
This is really only relevant/useful if the royalty breaks in the royalty rules have escalators. If you have percentage breaks or a flat percentage, there will be no gain in adding influencers.
To add another influencer, click Add another influencer. To delete a row, just click on the bin symbol in front of the relevant row.
Further details about adding influencers is available here.
The next two sub-tabs are the converse of each other: Influence Alternate Book or Influenced by Alternate Book. These tabs allow you to specify if the units sold of one ISBN affect the royalties owed on another ISBN. Eg if your contract states that the combined total of all home sales across all formats is the value by which royalties are calculated, you need to indicate that the units sold under 'home sales' for the other ISBN's under this title impact one another. Generally titles should populate both ways, from A to B & B to A. In the examples below, we have provided 2 screen shots to show this in action. In the first image, you can see that Dances with Cats is influenced by Good Times at Cat School across all escalators. In the second image, you can see the reverse of this.
When you are finished, click the Update button and all of the information you've added will be stored. You are now ready to move to the Payee tab.
