Testing Your Data with Bowker Follow
Bowker is the publisher of Books in Print and other compilations of information about books and periodical titles for the North American market. It provides supply chain services and analytical tools to the book publishing industry.
Bowker’s Data Services team will work with you to review and test your bibliographic data file. They will ensure that it meets industry specifications and allows for any unique information you may have above these standards.
You will be assigned a set of analysts and an account manager to work with you through the testing process. The result will be clean data within Bowker’s database and, in turn, any customer databases that they send your information to.
To start sending a feed to Bowker via Onix please get in contact with them by email on data.submission@bowker.com.
Key Points:
- Bowker requests that you supply data for all materials of interest to retailers, libraries, and school systems. These items typically have a valid, unique ISBN-13, EAN or UPC applied to them.
- Bowker currently requires an image feed separate from your bibliographic data file. There is further information about their requirements for image files.
- For publishers producing fewer than 100 titles per year, MyIdentifiers.com is a free web interface you can use to enter titles into the database.
Further information is available from these links:
- Information regarding data file submissions.
- BowkerLink Publisher Access System allows you to communicate your new release titles, as well as price and status updates to a wide audience of book, audio and video buyers.
Once your test feeds have been approved, you can then set up a regular feed on your Stison system.
