Aliases Follow
It is possible to create multiple 'Alias' contact records, and link them all to the 'Real' name of a contact. This may be of use in cases of multiple pen names, or where name changes have occured but the name on a historic title must be kept the same.
To create this Alias, you simply need to create a contact record as per the usual method. Once you have created this record, select 'More detail'.
Select the Alias / Nom de Plume checkbox, and a 'Real Name' field will appear.
Use the magnifying glass to select the 'Real name' contact record.
If an individual has had a name change, and the current 'real name' record needs to become the Alias, simply create a new contact record with the new name. Once this is done, open up the 'old' name record, select Alias / Nom De Plume, and link it to the new record.
How does this affect Royalty Statements?
When you create an Alias, and link it to a 'Real Name', we will automatically link that Alias to the 'Real Name' when generating Royalty Statements.
For example, if author Elizabeth Bennett writes under the Alias of Jane Smith, the contributors tab in Title Manager will present as below:
When you go to create a royalty rule for Elizabeth Bennet (writing as Jane Smith) on this title in Royalties, we will automatically make the link between the two contact records, and present your options as Real Name (Alias Name):
Once the rule is in place, it will look as such:
The default payee set up will appear as Contributor = Real Name (Alias Name), Payee = Real Name:
Finally, the statement will report the Real name, and will not reference the Alias:
