Rights Manager Overview Follow
Stison's Rights Manager module is designed to act as a repository for all things Rights related - whether that be the rights you are selling or the rights you are buying in.
Key functionality of the module:
- Rights Manager is a comprehensive software package to handle all the functions of a Rights Department.
- The information is entered once only and can be accessed and reported on in a variety of different ways. The database can be searched and reported on by title, purchaser, author, series, ISBN, imprint and proprietor.
- The system maintains a database holding details of titles, authors, publishers, contracts, interest and submissions, invoices and a royalty ledger.
In the following screen shot, you can see the key basic information that we've added for a demonstration Spanish co-edition of our title Animals of the Desert.
Please note that as with any section of the Stison system, there are several ways to make the Rights Manager module work for your company. In the example below, we are showing you the basic functionality of adding and editing a new contract to the system.
Once a title has been added into the system by clicking the blue Update bottom, you will be taken back to the main Rights Contracts screen where your newly added contract will be listed, as shown in the screen shot below:
Here you will also see all of your existing Rights Contracts.

You can search your list via the search box or you can filter your search by applying Advanced Filters. The keyword search filters on title, organisation, foreign title & description.
You can also customise the columns you see in this screen by clicking on the Columns button on the right hand side. A pop up window will appear.
Select a column you want to see from the drop-down menu. To add another, just click on Add another column. You can change the order of your columns by dragging the arrow symbol to the left of the rows. To delete a column click on the bin symbol. When finished click on the Save button.
To download your contracts, click the Download button. The filters applied to the search will be applied to the downloaded list of contracts. If you wish to change the format of the download click on this symbol to select the format.
Here you can also create a new contract by clicking on Create New button.
To remove a contract check the box in front of the contract you wish to delete and click on Remove Selected button.
If you would like to go back into the record to make any amendments, click on the title of the contract, which will be a live field in blue text. You can then change any of the information or add new information where necessary.
Just remember YOU MUST hit Update, otherwise the new information will not be stored.
