Using Works to update Blurbs across products Follow
It may be that you have used the Works function to link associated forms of a title together, that could not be merged in Title Manager. For example, if you have an audiobook format that requires an additional contributor that is not shared with the paperback of the same title, you may have split the audiobook out in order to add the narrator, and subsequently linked these titles in List of Works.
You may still wish, however, to be able to share descriptive text across the audiobook and the paperback, without having to remember to update the audibooks blurbs every time you update the paperbacks blurbs.
The works function allows you to do this. To gain access to this feature, please email helpdesk@stison.com
Setting a 'Master Title'
Lets say you want the paperback to be the primary format, with any updates to descriptive text made to the paperback automatically updating the same data in the audiobook.
- Open up the Work that connects the paperback and audiobook of this title.
- Navigate to the blurbs tab
3. In the 'Master Title' field, select the paperback.
4. When you go to the paperback record, on the blurbs tab, you will now see that the descriptive text is marked as 'Master Text'.
Any updates made to this 'Master text' will automatically update the text in the audiobook as well. If you navigate to the audiobook, you will see that it is marked as 'child text', and it is not possible to make any direct edits.
The Master Text will also be editable from within the Blurbs tab in the Work.
