Setting Up PHP 5

Download PHP 5 (http://windows.php.net/download/)

Install PHP 5
During installation you will be prompted with the extensions window.
Select the following extensions:

Curl

GD2
-
Gettext
-
MySql
-
MySqli
-
OpenSSL
-
SQLite
-
XML-RPC
-
XSL
-
SOAP
-
ZIP
- Multi Byte String
3. Enable short open tags ( <? ?> )
short_open_tag = On
4. Register Globals
register_globals = Off
How to Configure Apache for PHP 5

Download Apache ( http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi#apache22 )

Install Apache & Configure Apache
2.1 Add Modules to “Apache Configuration File” (httpd.conf)
File Location :
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf
*Uncomment code lines by removing the '#' symbol.
LoadModule mime_module modules/mod_mime.so
#LoadModule proxy_ftp_module modules/mod_proxy_ftp.so
#LoadModule reqtimeout_module modules/mod_reqtimeout.so
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
LoadModule setenvif_module modules/mod_setenvif.so
#LoadModule speling_module modules/mod_speling.so
LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so
#LoadModule status_module modules/mod_status.so
#LoadModule substitute_module modules/mod_substitute.so
2.2 Set PHP as an Apache Module
If you are using Apache 2.0.x, add the following line after all the LoadModule statements:
LoadModule php5_module "c:/php/php5apache2.dll"
If you are using Apache 2.2.x, add the following line instead:
LoadModule php5_module "c:/php/php5apache2_2.dll"
3.3 Addtype To identify php files
Locate "AddType" in the file, and add the following line at the end of the <IfModule mime_module> section. Add the line just before the closing </IfModule>.
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
If using Apache 2 versions, add the following line to the end of your httpd.conf file in order to point out the location of your PHP ini file.

MySQL

Create a user and grant Privileges

CREATE USER '
user
'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'some_pass';
→
CREATE DATABASE dbname;
→
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON dbname.* TO 'user'@'localhost';
2. Load data into the database with "Sqldump".
3. Configure weekly backups.
